PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Clean Water Act have designated the Wissahickon creek an impaired waterway. The EPA has established a TMDL, Total Maximum Daily Loads requirement that establishes the amount of a pollutant that a water body can assimilate without exceeding its water quality standard for that pollutant. Steve has supported that effort by funding and directing the staff to fully participate in the establishment of a region wide efforts by effected municipalities and Waste Water Treatment Plants to craft a science based solution to address EPA concerns while preserving taxpayer’s quality of life and  low cost of homeownership in the township.
